Assured Guaranty brings on Marc Livolsi

Assured Guaranty Municipal Corp. hired Marc Livolsi, formerly of Citigroup, as managing director of public finance marketing.

Livolsi, who worked at Citigroup Global Markets Inc. for 25 years until the bank cut his position in February along with two others in its municipal team, will focus on building relationships with public finance professionals as well as “marketing and outreach to institutional investors, banks and investment professionals,” according to a press release.

Christopher Chafizadeh, who Livolsi will report to, said Assured Guaranty will benefit from Livolsi’s experience in the municipal market.

“Marc’s long track record of success complements the depth of industry knowledge already at Assured Guaranty, which will help us to further build our market leadership position,” Chafizadeh said in the release.

“Assured Guaranty is the leader in bond insurance, with unmatched financial strength, a proven business model, and a leadership team committed to giving their clients the best service available,” Livolsi said in the release.

Livolsi was managing director of municipal markets underwriting at Citi. He worked on airports, stadium finance, hotel finance, utilities, housing and high-yield sectors.

Livolsi wasn’t the only banker to land on his feet after leaving Citi.

In June, Gerard Baker, formerly of Citi, joined FHN Financial Capital Markets. He works in the firm’s municipal underwriting team in New York and focuses on the competitive market.

Livolsi has a finance degree from Villanova University. His father, Bart Livolsi, was part of the municipal leadership team at Citi until his retirement in 2019.
